Sonic 3 is a game that is split into two parts. Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles. They are intended to be treated as a single game and are done so here.
Sonic 3 A.I.R is a fan made engine that faithfully puts all content from Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles into one package, adding widescreen support, a remastered soundtrack, and many tweaks in the options menu.
